About findsool Drink Finder
findsool is a free information service: from just one photo of a bottle label, it tells you what the drink is, where it comes from, roughly how much it costs, and what story lies behind the label.
Why we built it
A wine you received as a gift, a sake you spotted on a trip, a whisky in a shop's display case. Labels are packed with information, but foreign languages and technical terms often make it hard to tell what the drink actually is. If you have ever turned a bottle this way and that, puzzling over what to search for, and then given up, findsool was built to shorten that process for you.
findsool does not sell alcohol. It is an information service that helps you read and understand labels, and it is intended for adults 19 and over.
How to use it
- Log in — You can try one lookup without logging in. To keep using findsool, log in with a Kakao (a Korean messaging app) or Google account; your lookups are then saved to My Cellar.
- Photograph the label — Take a photo on the first screen or pick one from your album. Results are more accurate when the label appears head-on, large, and free of glare.
- Several bottles at once — If there are several bottles in the photo, each bottle is outlined, and you can select up to 4 bottles to look up together.
- Search by name — No photo? You can also type in the name of the drink, such as "Ballantine's 21".
Photo tip — Turn the bottle slightly so that the largest text on the label (the producer or brand name) faces the camera. Shooting directly under a light easily causes glare, so it is better to take the photo from a step to the side.
What the results screen tells you

Any kind of drink will do. Wine, whisky and sake, of course, but also soju, makgeolli, Korean traditional liquor, beer, vodka, rum, brandy and liqueur: if the label is visible, you can look it up.

“1 free try” means you can try one lookup without signing up; to keep looking up drinks, sign up with a Kakao or Google account. Every feature is free and works in your browser without installation, in Korean, English and Japanese.
What findsool does not do
- Aggregated ratings and reviews from other users — Star ratings and notes are for your own records; we do not collect and show other users' reviews.
- Real-time store prices or price comparison — The estimated price is a reference range; we do not show a specific store's current price or compare prices.
- Buying or brokering — findsool does not sell alcohol or connect you with sellers.
- Taste-analysis reports — There is no feature that analyzes your taste from your records.
My Cellar and Ranks
Drinks you look up are automatically saved to My Cellar. You can leave star ratings and notes, and, if you wish, record on a map where you looked the drink up (the location is saved only when you turn this on yourself). The next time you come across the same drink, you can easily find "that wine from last time."
In the Ranks tab you can see the drinks other users look up most, and the drinks with the highest estimated prices among those looked up. Rankings never show personal information or locations.
Accuracy and limitations
findsool identifies drinks using image-recognition AI together with material from web searches. With a photo where the label is sharp, it finds the right drink in most cases, but it can get things wrong in the following cases.
- Photos in which the label is only partly visible or blurry
- When the same brand releases several products with similar label designs
- Small-batch local drinks or very old bottles
If a result is wrong, please let us know with Report error on the results screen. We will check it and apply the correction. Estimated prices are for reference only and are not suitable as a basis for buying or selling.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes. All lookup features are free. Running costs are covered by the ads shown on the pages.
What happens to the photos I take?
The original photo is used only for identification and is not stored on our server, with two exceptions: a photo from a trial lookup without login is kept for up to 1 hour so the result can be carried over after sign-up, and a crop of the label only is kept for 14 days for quality checks; both are deleted automatically. Only a small thumbnail cropped to the bottle is kept in My Cellar. Details can be found in our Privacy Policy.
Do I need to install an app?
No installation is needed; you can use it right away in your phone's browser. Add it to your home screen and it opens like an app.
Can I buy drinks?
No. findsool only provides information and does not sell alcohol or act as an intermediary for its sale.
